Specialism
I am trained to work with clients who have experienced Religious or Spiritual Abuse or related traumatic experiences within high-demand groups, cults or one-to-one relationships. I completed an M.A. in Relational Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2017 and have subsequently finished a doctorate at the Metanoia Institute/Middlesex University, the title of my doctoral thesis being ‘Both sides of the coin: Counsellors’ stories of the influence of a fundamentalist religious upbringing on mental health and wellbeing in adulthood’.
I also have a Certificate in Post-Cult Counselling (C-PCC) having undergone training on this specialist topic with Dr Gillie Jenkinson, of Hope Valley Counselling. Additionally, I frequently work with clients who wish to integrate Spirituality or Faith matters into their therapeutic work although I also work with people of other or no faiths so there is absolutely no obligation for this to happen.
I am currently in the second year of training at the London Centre for Spiritual Direction and am looking for two directees who would be willing to work with me monthly at no financial cost while I complete my training (anticipated in September 2027). An initial assessment will be conducted, and the work will require tutor permission to proceed. A more experienced spiritual director will supervise the work.
